Although her family largely graduated from Washington State University, she earned her doctorate and bachelor degrees from the University of Washington.

As a student she worked with audiology outreach for local, national, and international programs, supported two UW Speech and Hearing research labs, and provided guest lectures for multiple undergraduate courses. She completed her training at VA Puget Sound Healthcare Systems primarily working with hearing aids, cochlear implants, balance assessments, and tinnitus counseling.

She has over 20 years of experience in audio engineering for live events, including the design and implementation of sound systems for nonprofit and corporate events. Her experiences have given her a unique appreciation for speech and room acoustics as well as how we perceive sound. Dr. Mitchell believes that a foundation based in evidence-based practices coupled with honoring each patient’s listening and lifestyle goals is fundamental to patient care. She is associated with the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

In her free time she enjoys learning and creating new things. She can often be found reading, sewing, woodworking, and cooking.
